St. Louis, May 1, 2013 – Ameren Corporation has been recognized as a “Top 50 Employer” by Woman Engineer Magazine for providing a positive working environment for women engineers. Ameren (#30) joins several prominent multi-national companies such as Google, General Motors, and Microsoft on the annual list.

“When I decided my senior year in high school to pursue an engineering degree I was told that the profession may just be too hard,” said Belleville, Ill., Operating Center Engineer Gina Eberhart, who is responsible for distribution planning, reliability and maintenance of substations for Ameren Illinois. “It’s a challenge that I am glad I accepted. I want other females, and all students for that matter, to consider a career in engineering. It may be a challenging degree to attain but once achieved it opens endless possibilities. Ameren has been the ideal place to grow my career.”
“When I started working at Ameren, I was surprised by how many female engineers were in my department, and that number has continued to increase,” said Sarah Dorlac, who is a project engineer for the design of new or modifications to existing transmission substations for Ameren Missouri. “I feel valued and held to the same high standards as everyone else at Ameren. It’s important for female students to realize that there are incredible opportunities in the field of engineering. Universities oftentimes offer engineering scholarships to encourage female students to explore their passion for math and science.”
