Ameren Missouri Encourages Safety During Restoration Efforts

Ameren Missouri is reminding the public to practice safety during power restoration efforts. “The safety of the public and our employees is our primary concern,” says Richard Mark, senior vice president of customer operations.

Pedestrians in areas where restoration work is occurring are strongly encouraged to stay clear of areas with work crews. “Storm restoration is difficult and dangerous work and requires the full focus of our crews to ensure power is restored to our customers as soon as possible,” Mark explains. “The extensive damage caused by Friday’s storm and the current weather conditions add to the need for all to continue focusing on safety.”

Ameren Missouri also encourages the public to steer clear of broken poles and tree limbs and assume all downed power lines are energized. Outages, downed lines and other power-related issues should be called in to 1-800-552-7583.

Staff resources dedicated to storm restoration efforts continue to expand and currently stand at 2,400 total, including 1,600 linemen.

As of 3 p.m. today, 16,300 customers were experiencing power outages related to Friday’s storm. Storm-related outages peaked at 47,000.

While every effort is being made to restore power as quickly as possible, customers with special needs—including those with medical conditions, seniors, handicapped and others dependent on electric service—may wish to consider making alternative arrangements if outages in their areas persist.

Additional storm information is available on the Outage Center pages at AmerenMissouri.com.
