Ameren employees pledge $1.8 million to United Way in 2015, move closer to $50 million milestone
The company and its employees rank among leading contributors to the United Way of Greater St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Nov. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ameren recently announced its employees have pledged more than $1.8 million to the company's 2015 United Way campaign. The 2015 contribution benefits more than 50 United Way chapters in Missouri and Illinois, and it supports United Way agencies where Ameren employees live and work.

Community outreach programs like Provident, Inc.'s after school program are funded through contributions from Ameren's United Way campaign.

The 2015 pledge moves Ameren and its employees even closer to a significant milestone: $50 million in total contributions since 1971 to help local people through United Way of Greater St. Louis.

"For the past 44 years, our employees have given generously of their time and money to United Way of Greater St. Louis and to other United Way chapters across Missouri and Illinois," said Mary Heger, Ameren senior vice president and chief information officer and the company's 2015 United Way campaign co-chair. "The Ameren team has created a remarkable culture of service and giving, and I am extremely proud to be a part of it."

Ameren has long been a leading contributor to the United Way campaign and is traditionally one of the region's top corporations in terms of total contributions and the percentage of employees who give to United Way. Since 1971, Ameren has raised $49,571,348 in support of United Way of Greater St. Louis, which is inclusive of the 2015 contribution. In addition, Ameren has continued to provide long-term support to other United Way chapters in Missouri and Illinois.

"We are grateful to Ameren for their tremendous ongoing support," said Sue McCollum, United Way's 2015 campaign co-chair and chairman and CEO of Major Brands, Inc. "The generosity of individuals and corporations like Ameren allows United Way to invest more than $1 million into our region each week to help one in three people create a solid foundation for a good quality of life."

Ameren also supports several United Way leadership societies, including the African American Leadership – Charmaine Chapman Society, Alexis deTocqueville Society, Multicultural Leadership Society, Women's Leadership Society and Young Leadership Society. Each leadership society offers unique programs and events.

"United Way leadership societies provide numerous channels and opportunities to grow as leaders and make a positive difference in our communities," said Eric Scott, director of reliability standards for Ameren and the company's Young Leadership Society co-chairman. "United Way has a way for everyone to get involved."
