Ameren employees pledge $1.7 million to United Way in 2019

ST. LOUIS (Nov. 15, 2019) – Ameren employees have pledged more than $1.7 million to the company’s 2019 United Way campaign. The 2019 contribution benefits more than 1,100 United Way supported agencies in Ameren’s service territory, supporting United Way agencies in communities where Ameren employees live and work.

“For five decades, Ameren employees have generously donated their time and money to United Way of Greater St. Louis and to other United Way chapters across Missouri and Illinois,” said Mark Birk, Ameren Missouri’s senior vice president, customer and power operations, and the company’s 2019 United Way campaign co-chair. “Contributing to the United Way campaign is part of Ameren’s culture of caring, and we are proud to support the positive work they do every day helping our neighbors in need throughout the region.”

Ameren has long been a leading contributor to the United Way campaign and is traditionally one of the St. Louis region's top corporations in terms of total contributions and the percentage of employees who give to United Way.

“We are so grateful for the Ameren leadership team and all of Ameren’s employees for the continued support of our community through United Way,” said Michelle Tucker, president and CEO of United Way of Greater St. Louis. “Each year they exemplify the generosity of the St. Louis region by raising such a tremendous amount.”

Ameren also supports several United Way leadership societies, including the Charmaine Chapman Society, de Tocqueville Society, Multicultural Leadership Society and Women’s Leadership Society. Each leadership society offers unique programs and events.

“United Way provides many wonderful opportunities to get involved and support causes that matter to our co-workers,” said Birk. “By building better communities with United Way, our region becomes stronger and our future looks brighter.”
