Virtual Open Houses set for Limestone Ridge Project
Project will bolster energy reliability for Southeast Missouri businesses and homes

ST. LOUIS (Aug. 10, 2020) – Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATXI), in collaboration with Wabash Valley Power Alliance (WVPA), Citizens Electric Corporation and Ameren Missouri, is proposing to construct a new, approximately 12-19 mile transmission line and state-of-the-art substations to improve energy reliability for local communities in Southeast Missouri. The 138-kilovolt line will connect two new substations in Perry and Cape Girardeau counties.

The upgrades support continued growth for Southeast Missouri and are needed to provide additional energy to local manufacturing facilities while improving local energy reliability for homes and businesses. The proposed in-service date for the project is December 2023.

Due to COVID-19, the companies are taking action to keep the public and their employees safe and healthy. Rather than an in-person forum, the Limestone Ridge Project team will be hosting two virtual online Webex meetings to introduce the project and provide the public an opportunity to provide input on project development within the study area.

We invite you to attend one of our virtual online Webex meetings on Wednesday, Aug.19 at noon or 7 p.m. Each meeting will include a presentation on the project, a Q&A session and an explanation of how you can provide input. To register, visit our website at limestoneridgeproject.com. Additional engagement opportunities will also be available beginning Aug. 10 through Aug. 24.

The virtual open house meetings are open to the public and interested stakeholders.

Ameren will collect feedback from the public as part of a public outreach process in anticipation of filing a petition in January 2021 with the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) seeking approval of the Limestone Ridge Project and a final recommended route.

"Listening and receiving input from the community is critical for us to learn about area sensitivities during the planning process," said Jim Jontry, project manager for ATXI's Limestone Ridge Project. "We're looking forward to the community participating in our virtual open house forums designed to gather information while keeping people safe during the pandemic."

Additional information is available on the project’s website at limestoneridgeproject.com, by sending an email to LimestoneRidgeProject@ameren.com or by calling the project hotline at 573-232-3003.
