ST. LOUIS (Jan. 11, 2021) – Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATXI), in collaboration with Wabash Valley Power Alliance (WVPA), Citizens Electric Corporation and Ameren Missouri, is hosting a series of public engagement opportunities to inform and collaborate with the public and landowners on a new energy investment for Southeast Missouri. The proposed Limestone Ridge Project consists of an estimated 15-mile transmission line and two state-of-the-art substations designed to support continued growth for local communities in Southeast Missouri.
The 138-kilovolt line will connect two new substations in Perry and Cape Girardeau counties, providing additional energy support to local manufacturing facilities and improve energy reliability for homes and businesses. The proposed in-service date for the project is December 2023.
The Limestone Ridge Project team will host a variety of engagement opportunities January 11 through February 1. Due to COVID-19 health restrictions and concerns, the following options are open to the public throughout this time period:
In addition, there will be a virtual Webex meeting and a telephone public meeting on Thursday, January 21.
Each meeting will provide community members with an opportunity to ask questions and comment on the preferred route options.
“Gathering community feedback is an important part of our planning process, and it's essential we be mindful of everyone’s safety due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Jim Jontry, project manager for ATXI's Limestone Ridge Project. "We encourage interested members of the public and landowners to join us for these online and telephone meetings to learn more and to share their input about the project. Listening to public feedback is an important element to make this project successful.”
Ameren held the first round of open houses for the project with stakeholders in August. Following the public outreach and route development process, Ameren anticipates filing a petition in early 2021 with the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) seeking approval of the Limestone Ridge Project and a final recommended route.
