Ameren names Isom to lead the company's corporate safety, security and crisis management groups

ST. LOUIS (Jan. 24, 2023) – An experienced leader in public safety and law enforcement has been named by Ameren to lead its safety and security responsibilities across the company's 64,000-square-mile service territory.

Daniel Isom, currently interim director of public safety for the City of St. Louis, joins Ameren Feb. 13 as vice president of corporate safety, security and crisis management.

Isom replaces Tim Reagan, who will retire on April 1 after 10 years at Ameren and a 35-year career with the Metropolitan St. Louis Police Department, where he retired as a Lt. Colonel and deputy chief.

In his new role, Isom will lead a team of professionals focused on comprehensive safety and security programs and emergency preparedness across Ameren facilities in Missouri and Illinois. He will function as a leader on behalf of Ameren through local, state and national organizations focused on crisis, safety and security.

"Ameren is a great organization with strong ties to the communities it serves," Isom said. "And it's headquartered right here in the City of St. Louis, a community I have worked to protect for much of my career. Ameren's vision is to lead the way to a sustainable energy future in Missouri and Illinois, and it's an exciting prospect to join Ameren at this time and be a part of this important work."

Isom has a distinguished track record in public service. He joined the Metropolitan St. Louis Police Department in 1988 and was appointed Chief of Police in 2008. He was the city's 33rd Chief of Police and retired in 2013 after 24 years of service. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice and an adjunct professor at the Washington University-St. Louis Brown School of Social Work. He has served as interim director of public safety for the City of St. Louis since the spring of 2021 when he took leave as the executive director of the Regional Justice Information Service (REJIS).

"Safety and security are core values for everything we do at Ameren," said Marty Lyons, chief executive officer at Ameren. "Dan is a recognized leader and expert in his field with a proven record of getting results. We welcome Dan's immense talents to lead this critical area of our business. I am grateful for Tim's years of dedicated and meaningful service to Ameren and the City of St. Louis and wish him well in retirement."

Isom earned his bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees in criminology and criminal justice from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a master’s in public administration from Saint Louis University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) Senior Management Institute, and the FBI National Executives Institute.

He is a resident of the City of St. Louis. He is married to Virginia Isom and has two children, Alexandria and Daniel.
