Ameren Illinois Power Restoration Update

800 resources engaged in restoration; Customers in harder hit areas expected to have power restored by late Tuesday

COLLINSVILLE (JAN. 6, 2025)Ameren Illinois crews are continuing power restoration efforts in the wake of the severe snow and ice storm that impacted the Southern region. The company issued the following progress update:

Most of the power outages are concentrated in Jackson, Williamson, Saline, and Gallatin counties. The storm caused significant damage to the electric infrastructure, with an estimated 100 power poles damaged or destroyed. Approximately 730 resources are dedicated to power restoration in the region, including line workers, tree trimmers, damage assessors and safety/support personnel.

Based on current weather conditions, we estimate that 80 percent of customers will have their power restored by late Tuesday.

Ice storms are challenging for crews as significant ice build-up combined with below freezing temperatures and high winds wreak havoc on power lines, transformers, and other equipment. The pace of restoration can be slowed by high winds and additional ice and snow accumulation.

Ameren Illinois is communicating directly with impacted customers to inform them of the estimated restoration window. Customers who are signed up for alerts will be contacted in their preferred channel. All others will receive a phone call.

We thank our customers for their patience during this time. We know this is challenging for everyone but also know that our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible.
