Ameren Missouri offers energy assistance programs year-round; LIHEAP applications due May 31
ST. LOUIS (April 28, 2025) – Ameren Missouri is reminding customers that they may be eligible for a variety of programs related to monthly bill assistance or past-due bills. The company also recommends eligible customers work with local community agencies to apply for the state of Missouri’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
While Ameren Missouri’s programs are available year-round, the deadline to apply for LIHEAP Energy Assistance (EA) is May 31, through the Missouri Department of Social Services. Ameren Missouri partners with more than 800 agencies, such as Community Action Agency of St. Louis County (CAASTLC), to help customers apply for EA and additional energy assistance programs.
“We highly encourage anyone in need of energy bill assistance to apply for LIHEAP before funds expire. Those who qualify or may not qualify for LIHEAP can also apply for Ameren Missouri’s energy assistance programs," said Linda Huntspon, CEO of CAASTLC. “If you’re uncertain or don’t know where to begin, please contact us as soon as possible.”
Through EA, the state provides a one-time payment for either heating or cooling bills. Those in financial crisis may also qualify for the state's Winter Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP) through May 31, and Summer ECIP from June 1 - September 30. A disconnection notice is required for ECIP but not for EA. For more information, visit mydss.mo.gov/utility-assistance/liheap.

Customers who may not qualify can also take advantage of flexible payment options and bill management programs.”
