Ameren Missouri assists the SLSO’s renovations through energy efficiency program
ST. LOUIS (Nov. 5, 2025) – Ameren Missouri and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO) recently partnered on multiple energy-efficient HVAC upgrades through the company’s BizSavers program to create an even more comfortable listening experience throughout Powell Hall at the Jack C. Taylor Music Center. These improvements now put the SLSO on track to save $175,000 in annual energy costs and 1.89 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually.
"We're grateful to partner with Ameren Missouri’s BizSavers program to realize energy savings at the new Jack C. Taylor Music Center,” said Marie-Hélène Bernard, president and CEO of the SLSO. “By investing in energy efficiency solutions for the 100-year-old Powell Hall and its newly opened expansion, the program allows the SLSO to redirect more resources to sharing the life-affirming power of music throughout our community."
As part of the SLSO’s recently completed $140 million expansion and renovation of Powell Hall, these HVAC upgrades will provide optimal climate control and noise reduction within the iconic concert hall.
“We’re thrilled that our partnership with the SLSO helped renovate the historic Powell Hall at the Jack C. Taylor Music Center, saving them the equivalent amount of energy it takes to power 155 homes per year while enhancing comfort for their audiences,” said Gwen Mizell, senior vice president, chief sustainability officer at Ameren. “At Ameren, we believe that supporting our region’s cultural institutions is integral to advancing a sustainable future for our region.”
The BizSavers program launched in 2013 and offers several energy efficiency programs through Ameren Missouri to help commercial customers manage their energy use and reduce costs. Visit AmerenMissouri.com/BizSavers to see how businesses can save.
