Ameren Illinois Delivers Immediate Relief, Lasting Impact Through Community Development Workshops

More than 1,800 customers receive $200 in financial relief

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (June 2, 2026) – More than 1,800 Ameren Illinois residential customers are better positioned to manage rising electric supply costs after participating in Community Development Workshops the company held in May.

Hosted in Champaign, Danville and Quincy, the workshops connected customers with energy experts who delivered practical, easy-to-implement strategies to reduce energy use, improve home comfort and lower monthly bills. In addition to gaining valuable insights, each eligible participant received a $200 credit applied directly to their energy bill.

“This initiative is about more than just providing short-term assistance – it’s about empowering customers with the knowledge and tools to take control of their energy future,” said Keyla Ward, manager of clean energy transition, Market Development Initiative for Ameren Illinois. “We’re proud to support our communities with both immediate bill relief and long-term solutions that strengthen energy resilience.”

Launched under the company's Market Development Initiative (MDI), the workshops were designed to bring innovative, community-driven solutions directly to customers in select communities. Workshops were held last fall in Decatur, East St. Louis, Carbondale and Peoria.

This year alone, Ameren Illinois provided approximately $360,000 in bill credits through the workshops, reinforcing its commitment to helping customers navigate energy challenges while advancing equitable access to resources.

Participants also received information on available bill payment programs, renewable energy resources, and clean energy job and training programs. The MDI has three primary goals to support the clean energy transition: access and education, inclusive vendor opportunities, and workforce development.
