Key Takeaways
ST. LOUIS (June 4, 2026) – Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATXI) and Ameren Missouri are hosting a second round of in-person public open houses next week to gather additional input on the latest plans for the Eastern Missouri Grid Transformation Project.
This project is designed to make the energy grid across the region more reliable and resilient by upgrading older infrastructure and replacing aging lines to help reduce the risk of outages over time. Building a stronger transmission system also increases access to low-cost electric generation resources located across the Midwest.
“Feedback from the community has helped us refine route options,” said Jim Jontry, project manager for the Eastern Missouri Grid Transformation Project. “We encourage residents across the project area to attend the open houses, review the updated routes, ask questions, and share additional input. Our team is doing as much as possible to minimize impacts on landowners and local communities while successfully delivering the project and its benefits."

The Eastern Missouri Grid Transformation Project is planned to pass through six counties and the City of St. Louis and include more than 130 miles of new and upgraded transmission lines. The vast majority of the lines would be rebuilt along existing corridors and co-located with existing Ameren facilities. A new substation, to be called Graus, would be built near Orchard Farm in St. Charles County.
Each open house will offer the latest information about the project and an opportunity to provide feedback on potential route segments. Sessions will include the same information, with no formal presentation. A self-paced virtual engagement presentation and interactive comment map are also available online.
The Eastern Missouri Grid Transformation Project is scheduled to be in service by 2032. For more information, visit Ameren.com/EasternMOGrid, email Connect@EasternMOGrid.com or call the project hotline at 877.468.1823.
