G.I. Jobs Salutes Ameren as Military-Friendly Employer Three Years in a Row

G.I. Jobs Magazine has recognized Ameren Corporation for the third consecutive year as one of the top 100 military-friendly employers in the nation. The announcement will be featured in the magazine’s December 2011 issue.

G.I. Jobs provides tips, training and other career opportunities for veterans and military personnel transitioning back into civilian life. The magazine analyzed the benefits of more than 5,000 companies, ranking those selected in the top two percentile of employers nationwide. The ranking was created based on the strength of military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, and company policies toward National Guard and Reserve service.

“We are honored to be named a military-friendly employer for the third year in a row,” says Mark C. Lindgren, vice president, Human Resources, Ameren. “This continued recognition is a sign of our commitment to and appreciation of the men and women who have served in our armed forces.”

Ameren’s military recruiting efforts include nationwide events from base visits to career fairs, offering multiple online resources to reach out to veterans. In addition, the company offers a military veteran employee resource group to employees.

Ameren is also a recipient of the 2011 Secretary of Defense Freedom Award, the highest honor given by the U.S. government to employers for their outstanding support of employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve.

“What we offer to military veterans spans far beyond recruitment,” says Thomas R. Voss, chairman, president and CEO of Ameren. “We provide security and support to military employees and their families, so they can continue to proudly serve our country.”
