There’s a critical shortage of blood in many communities throughout the United States. To help ensure and maintain an adequate supply in communities near the Lake of the Ozarks, employees of Ameren Missouri’s Osage Energy Center will host a blood drive on Wednesday, June 13 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The free event is being held in partnership with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks. It will be held at the Ameren Missouri Clubhouse, which is adjacent to the Lakeside District Office, 984 Union Electric Road. Free cholesterol screenings will also be provided. Please bring a photo identification to participate.
Phil Thompson, plant superintendent at the Osage Energy Center, said that Ameren Missouri understands the importance of being a good corporate citizen and believes in hosting events such as the blood drive to strengthen and improve Lake-area communities.
“We’re supporting the community by hosting an event that allows people to give the gift of life,” Thompson said. “Giving blood is especially important for making sure there’s an adequate supply in our hospitals.”
When it comes to donating blood, Thompson leads by example. He recently received a “five-gallon” donor pin. He said it took about 20 years to donate that amount.
