As the highly-anticipated winter storm moves through Ameren Missouri’s service territory, the company has staged additional crews to the Park Hills and Farmington areas while remaining on stand-by for storm restoration efforts.
Because the weather system will continue to impact the region Thursday night and into Friday, Ameren Missouri crews remain on high alert – ready to respond in the event of power outages in the company’s service area. Additionally, the company will closely monitor weather conditions over the next several hours.
Throughout Thursday, there were a minimal number of outages among Ameren Missouri’s 1.2 million customers.
“We are paying close attention to how this system passes over Missouri – hopefully causing little to no problems for customers,” said Michael Moehn, senior vice president of Ameren Missouri Customer Operations. “Our crews are ready and totally committed to making sure customers have the power they expect and rely on, daily.”
Ameren Missouri crews and resources, such as company storm trailers and mobile command center trailers, were sent to designated areas in advance of the storm. The strategic placement aims to allow for a more timely response in areas that could be impacted the most.
At 7 a.m. Thursday, Ameren Missouri opened its Emergency Operations Center and reported that up to 1,500 linemen, field checkers and tree trimmers were ready for deployment. The company also noted that additional resources would be arriving from Iowa and Ohio.
As the storm continues to move through the region, Ameren Missouri reminds customers that safety is the top priority. Customers are urged to stay away from downed power lines. They should always assume that all downed power lines are energized and immediately contact Ameren Missouri at 1.800.552.7583 or dial 911.
Also, customers can report outages at the Outage Center at AmerenMissouri.com.
