Ameren Missouri's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is now open to provide restoration support to communities impacted by tonight’s severe storms and tornadoes.
Currently, approximately 88,000 Ameren Missouri customers are without power. Limited restoration efforts have been ongoing since Thursday’s storms in the Kirksville area. In response to tonight’s severe weather, Ameren Missouri troublemen are assessing the damage. At 4 a.m. Saturday, more than 800 crew members, including linemen, tree trimmers and field checkers, will ramp up restoration efforts. The company will bring in additional crews from out-of-state, as needed throughout the weekend.
“Safety is the top priority for our customers and our workers,” said Michael Moehn, senior vice president, Ameren Missouri Customer Operations. “We know the critical role electricity plays in our customers’ lives. Our crews will work quickly and safely to restore their power.”
The most important safety rule is to stay clear of downed power lines and always call Ameren Missouri at 1.800.552.7583 or 911 if you see downed lines. Assume all downed power lines are energized. Stay inside because you may walk into an energized power line. Stay clear of brush, shrubs and downed trees that may hide downed lines.
While every effort is made to restore power as quickly as possible, customers with special needs—including those with medical conditions, seniors, handicapped and others who are dependent on electric service—may wish to consider making alternative arrangements if outages in their areas persist.
