Ameren Missouri crews have restored power to a majority of the customers who lost service during Friday’s tornadoes and severe storm. As of Monday evening, approximately 22,000 customers are without electricity, down from roughly 95,000 at the peak of outages. The company estimates crews will restore another 5,000 customers overnight.
Today, Ameren Missouri added more restoration crews to the effort, bringing in 300 linemen and support staff from Ameren Illinois. Currently, there are approximately 2,850 restoration workers in the field, a majority of them focused on restoring power in North County. Their efforts are resulting in significant infrastructure repairs, specifically the return of numerous feeder lines. These lines move power from substations to neighborhood distribution systems that then supply service to customers’ homes and businesses. Multiple crews successfullyrestrung sub-transmission power lines across Highway 170. Customers can watch videos of crews involved in the restoration effort at AmerenMissouri.com.
“Because of the severity of the tornado damage, we have had to focus on rebuilding the infrastructure of our system, which is critical to our ability to restore power to our customers,” said Michael Moehn, senior vice president, Ameren Missouri Customer Operations. “Today, we were able to make significant progress. In the hardest hit areas we will have some customers still without power into tomorrow. We appreciate their patience. We know it is frustrating to be without electricity and we are doing everything we can to restore power a quickly as possible.”
