Ameren Illinois wraps up storm restoration work
Service to remaining areas expected by 10pm today

Ameren Illinois field crews and support staff have restored service to 98 percent of customers in the wake of Sunday’s tornadoes and high winds that devastated communities throughout central and southern Illinois.

As of 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, about 3,000 customers were without power. Remaining outages are concentrated to the areas of Pekin, East Peoria, Groveland, Roanoke, Washington, Gifford and Pana. Estimated safe restoration for most of the remaining customers is 10:00 p.m. tonight.

At the peak of the outage, more than 148,000 customers were without power throughout the Ameren Illinois service area. The storm began working its way through the Ameren Illinois territory at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Thousands of homes were lost or severely damaged throughout the Ameren Illinois territory. As Ameren Illinois works to rebuild the system which delivers power to our communities, we would like to remind homeowners that equipment attached directly to a house (such as conduit or the meter base) is the responsibility of the homeowner.  If a homeowner has experienced damage to this equipment, we may not be able to restore service until repairs have been made by a qualified electrician.

Customers who are still experiencing a service outage, or have made these repairs, are asked to call Ameren Illinois at (800) 755-5000.  Detailed instructions available at http://www.amerenillinois.com/reconnect.

In addition to the safety and outage information available at IllinoisOutage.com, customers and media can receive timely updates on outage restoration by following the Ameren Illinois news feed at Twitter.com/AmerenIllinois.
