Ameren Illinois Crews Battling Elements to Restore Power in Central/Southern Illinois
Closed/impassable roads making repairs a challenge

Ameren Illinois field personnel and support staff are continuing to battle frigid temperatures and hazardous working conditions while working to restore power to approximately 10,000 customers in the Ameren Illinois service territory. Snow packed roads and strong winds are slowing restoration efforts and making it difficult to reach equipment.

"Crews are doing the best they can in dangerous conditions to restore power to impacted areas," said Ron Pate, senior vice president of Operations and Technical Services for Ameren Illinois. "We are employing every possible measure, including working with local transportation officials and bringing in ATVs to reach our equipment in areas where roads are impassable. We will continue to be in the field until all power is restored, but the safety of our customers and personnel continues to be priority number one."

Residents are reminded to watch for and avoid downed electrical wires. Furthermore, stay away from brush, downed trees and limbs and any debris that may conceal downed power lines. Call Ameren Illinois at 1-800-755-5000 to report downed wires.
