Tom Voss, chairman and CEO of Ameren Corp., with EEI President Tom Kuhn.

Ameren Missouri’s POWERforward stakeholder initiative has been named winner of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) 2014 Advocacy Excellence Award, which highlights engagement and activism in public policy advocacy at the federal, state and local levels. Specifically, Ameren Missouri received the award for using a full range of advocacy tools, which include direct lobbying, grassroots or grass tops outreach and activation, coalition building, and voter and opinion leader education.

“This is a tremendous honor for Ameren Missouri and for each member of our POWERforward stakeholder initiative,” said Warren Wood, vice president of legislative and regulatory affairs, Ameren Missouri. “Our team's efforts to help educate stakeholders about energy policy issues and to advocate on behalf of our company's position on these issues has been very important. I am proud that EEI has recognized our POWERforward initiative and structure, which they said has long-term benefits beyond a single campaign.”

As part of Ameren Missouri’s commitment to producing safe, reliable and affordable energy, the company is committed to education and advocacy to promote legislation and energy programs that will attract 21st century jobs and industry to Missouri. These efforts are firmly rooted in the POWERforward stakeholder initiative, which was launched in 2011. Since its inception, POWERforward has successfully educated stakeholders about energy policy issues and provided those individuals with information necessary to advocate in support of legislative initiatives.
