Ameren Executive is First St. Louisan Selected to Attend Prestigious International Fellows Program

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Women's Forum Leadership Foundation has announced the selection of Theresa Shaw of Ameren Corporation to participate in its prestigious 2014-2015 Fellows Program. Shaw, vice president of internal audit, will join 36 rising women leaders from 14 nations across the globe and is the first and only St. Louis-area executive to be selected as a fellow.

The pool of candidates for a position in the 2014-2015 Fellows Class was extremely competitive. In addition to leadership criteria, selections were made with the aim of achieving a diverse cohort with respect to profession, geographic range and background.

Spread across a year, the Fellows Program convenes participants from around the world for a total of 20 days. In partnership with Harvard Business School and INSEAD, The Business School for the World, the Leadership Foundation offers creative, multidisciplinary training aimed at developing leadership and strategic management capabilities. In addition to leadership training, Shaw will be matched with a Women's Forum member who serves as her mentor and coach during the program year, giving her a chance to garner personal insights and advice from women at the top of their fields.

Shaw, a certified public accountant, earned a bachelor of science degree in accountancy with a minor in German from the University of MissouriColumbia, where she graduated summa cum laude. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Shaw, a resident of University City, Mo., is active in the local community, participating in the Junior League of St. Louis since 2002 and volunteering at St. Patrick's Center homeless shelter in St. Louis. She also participated in the Deloitte 100 Wise Women Program and Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge. In addition, Shaw was among Diversity Journal's 2014 Women Worth Watching.

The Fellows Program is sponsored by the Leadership Foundation, a charitable and educational arm of the International Women's Forum (IWF), and is the leading women's executive development program in the world today. IWF Missouri was incorporated in 1988 and consists of approximately 75 women in current or former major leadership positions.
