Ameren 'Shines the Light' on Accessibility in the St. Louis Region
Dennis Weisenborn, vice president of Safety and Supply Services at Ameren, accepts the Shine the Light award from Bill Peterson, regional vice president, Human Resources at Mercy.

Paraquad, a nonprofit organization empowering people with disabilities, presented Ameren Corporation with its 2014 Shine the Light Award during a ceremony Nov. 6 at The Chase Park Plaza. The annual awards ceremony is designed to "shine the light" on St. Louis-area businesses and organizations whose actions and policies exemplify the goal of promoting a fully accessible community for people with disabilities.

Ameren was recognized for efforts to increase the equality of access and opportunity for people with mobility, hearing, vision and cognitive disabilities in St. Louis.

Ameren gives encouragement to individuals with disabilities through a number of events on job shadowing, hands-on career exploration and employment opportunities. Ameren’s PCAA - Powering Connections for All Abilities employee resource group - is dedicated to making a difference through training and developing employees on disability cultural understanding, mentoring and community service.

"Ameren has and continues to be focused on promoting a fully accessible community for individuals of all abilities,” said Dennis Weisenborn, vice president of Safety and Supply Services at Ameren.  "Through countless sponsorships, recruitment efforts, donations and events, Ameren is living a corporate culture of accessibility and opportunity at work and in the communities we live in and serve."
