Ameren Illinois Employees Step up for National Volunteer Month

Ameren Illinois employees are stepping up to lend a hand to communities and non-profit organizations as part of National Volunteer Month. Ameren Illinois co-workers will be volunteering throughout central and southern Illinois to support community-improvement projects in April.
“Our employees are passionate about making a difference and strengthening the communities where we live and work,” said Richard Mark, president, Ameren Illinois. “From helping educate children, to planting trees, to building wheel-chair accessible ramps for veterans, our employees volunteer year-round to make our communities better places to live.”
Volunteer initiatives are part of the Ameren Cares program, which connects Ameren Illinois with the communities it serves through charitable giving and volunteering. A key focus of Ameren Cares is to partner with nonprofit organizations so employees can get involved and help improve the quality of life for residents.
Ameren Illinois’ April volunteer initiatives include:

  • Cleaning, painting and making other repairs at Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois.
  • Teaming up with the Coalition of Neighborhood Organizations in Decatur to install energy efficient lightbulbs in an economically underserved area to improve public safety.
  • Participating in the annual Arbor Day Festival in Mt. Vernon to help distribute trees to residents, and plant trees at area schools.
  • Planting shrubs and doing landscape work to help beautify the grounds at Peoria’s George Washington Carver Center.
  • Supporting the Danville YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day.
  • Assisting with field events at area Special Olympics Spring Games in Edwardsville, Charleston and Normal.
