Ameren Illinois Crews Restore More Than 70,000 Outages

Crews worked yesterday afternoon and throughout the evening to restore more than 70,000 outages from the more than 100,000 outages at the peak. As of 8:00 this morning, numbers are down to less than 33,000 customers out with a majority of outages impacting the Metro East area including Belleville, Centralia, East St. Louis, Maryville and Sparta.

While Ameren Illinois field crews and contractors have been actively engaged in restoration services since storms hit early yesterday afternoon, workers from multiple utilities are being dispatched to provide additional assistance. Mutual Aid resources are coming from other state utilities including Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin. Ameren Illinois activated the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday due to a line of storms that caused outages throughout the entire territory.

Crews will be working throughout the day to restore outages, with a high concentration of workers in the Metro East area. Detailed safety and outage information is available at AmerenIllinois.com, on Facebook and Twitter. Information includes outage maps, what to do during an outage, cold and frozen food tips and generator safety guidelines.

Specific restoration estimates for individual customers are available through our outage alert system.
