Warner Baxter, Chairman, President & CEO, Ameren Corporation, and an active community leader and partner, has accepted the role of board chair of Variety the Children's Charity.
Variety is St. Louis’ best resource for kids with physical and developmental disabilities, also referred to as special needs, and their families. The organization focuses on four core areas that help kids reach their full potential: providing medical equipment, the therapy to use it, and developing unique educational and recreational programs. Variety changes kids' lives by improving skills, socialization, self-esteem and independence.
"Variety is a special organization that makes a difference in the lives of our local children," said Baxter. "Ameren has supported Variety for more than three decades through the Ameren Power Chairs program, which provides technologically advanced power wheelchairs to give children a more active and independent life. I look forward to working with Variety during my term as chair to help continue the important work of making our communities better and brighter places to live."
Baxter sits on several industry boards including the Edison Electric Institute, the Electric Power Research Institute and The Edison Foundation's Institute for Electric Innovation. As a local community leader, he is board chair of the St. Louis Regional Chamber and sits on the executive committee of Civic Progress St. Louis as well as the board of U.S. Bancorp. Additional boards he serves include Barnes Jewish Hospital and The Muny.
Baxter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Missouri–St. Louis and has made meaningful and long-lasting contributions to higher education through his involvement with the University of Missouri System. He is a member of the University of Missouri–St. Louis Chancellors Council and serves on the University of Missouri 100 Board.
