Ameren, its Employees Give $100,000 to Tsunami Relief Efforts
Ameren Corporation (NYSE: AEE) announced today that the company and Ameren employees gave $100,000 to help the victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami and earthquake. More than 66 percent of the funds will go to the American Red Cross with UNICEF receiving almost 20 percent in gifts and the remainder going to CARE.

Over the past two months Ameren employees have contributed almost $50,000 to a matching gift program to help victims of the Dec. 26 disaster. In addition, the company matched one-for-one any employee contributions made to the American Red Cross, CARE and UNICEF.

"Our employees encouraged the company to create this program. Many of them are active volunteers and contributors to a range of organizations and have long experience responding to emergencies," says Richard J. Mark, senior vice president, Energy Delivery. "Some of our employees have family members who live in the affected regions, making our response even more relevant. We believed that it was critical that we do our part to respond to this unparalleled tragedy."

With assets of more than $17 billion, Ameren through its subsidiaries, serves 2.3 million electric and more than 900,000 natural gas customers in a 64,000- square-mile area of Illinois and Missouri.
