Ameren Announces Election of Four to President and Chief Executive Officer in Charge of the Corporation's Key Business Segments
Gary L. Rainwater, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ameren Corporation (NYSE: AEE), announced today that effective Jan. 1, 2007, four senior officers\-Warner L. Baxter, Scott A. Cisel, R. Alan Kelley and Thomas R. Voss---will assume the new positions of president and chief executive officer of each of the corporation's three key business segments and its administrative service company. All four officers will report directly to Rainwater.

"This new structure will align our company's organization and financial reporting more closely with our three distinct areas of business," says Rainwater, adding that the new structure will also improve the company's focus on providing top tier service for customers and bottom-line results for stockholders.

Today's changes involve the following changes in reporting relationships:

? Ameren Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Warner L. Baxter is elected to the additional position of president and chief executive officer of Ameren Services, assuming responsibility for those organizations providing finance, strategic planning, technology, procurement, environmental and certain other services to the business segments. Senior Vice President-Administration Daniel F. Cole and President of AmerenEnergy Fuels & Services (AFS) Michael G. Mueller will now report to Baxter. AFS provides fuel and energy-related products and services for Ameren's subsidiary operating companies.

? Scott A. Cisel, the president of AmerenCILCO, AmerenCIPS and AmerenIP (the Illinois rate regulated business segment) is elected to the additional positions of chief executive officer of each of these companies. All operations currently reporting to Cisel will continue to do so under the new structure.

? Senior Vice President of Generation R. Alan Kelley is elected president and chief executive officer of AmerenEnergy Resources, continuing his responsibility for all non rate-regulated generation but adding responsibility for non rate-regulated power marketing. Reporting to Kelley will be Andy M. Serri, president of AmerenEnergy Marketing, the wholesale and retail power marketing subsidiary.

? Ameren Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Thomas R. Voss is elected to the additional position of president and chief executive officer of AmerenUE (Ameren's Missouri rate- regulated operations). He will assume the additional responsibilities of nuclear operations headed by Charles D. Naslund, senior vice president and chief nuclear officer, and of AmerenEnergy, the power marketing and risk management agent for AmerenUE. Vice President Shawn E. Schukar will continue to direct AmerenEnergy and will report to Voss. In addition, reporting directly to Voss will be AmerenUE's power generation operations under Vice President Mark C. Birk. Continuing to report to Voss will be Senior Vice President David A. Whiteley, who directs the corporation's electric transmission operations. Senior Vice President of AmerenUE Energy Delivery Richard J. Mark will also continue to report to Voss and be responsible for the electric and natural gas distribution and customer service operations for AmerenUE.

? Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Donna K. Martin and Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary Steven R. Sullivan retain their current positions. Both will continue to report to Rainwater.

With assets of $19 billion, Ameren, through its subsidiaries, serves 2.4 million electric customers and 900,000 natural gas customers in a 64,000 square- mile area of Missouri and Illinois.
