ST. LOUIS

ST. LOUIS, Aug. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- AmerenUE and The National Theatre for Children will bring the live theatrical show "Boomerang Jack and the Unseen Green Machine" to 100 schools across Missouri this fall. Any school in AmerenUE's 62-county Missouri service territory can request the show, which is being offered to educators free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

The 25-minute program delivers important messages of energy conservation and renewable energy as it entertains children in grades K-6. Educators are encouraged to call The National Theatre for Children at 800-858-3999, ext. 214, to request a performance.

"Boomerang Jack and the Unseen Green Machine" is performed by professional actors from The National Theatre for Children. Based in Minneapolis, Minn., The National Theatre for Children specializes in writing and performing educational programs for children nationwide using simple sets and audience participation.

The play features a cast of memorable characters, including the evil Great Waster of Energy, ace reporter Aberdeen Jean, the absentminded Professor Whatshisname and Boomerang Jack himself. The play also comes with a full suite of educational materials, including grade-appropriate workbooks and teacher guides. These materials reinforce the messages of "Boomerang Jack and the Unseen Green Machine."

"AmerenUE has long supported energy conservation and renewable energy," says AmerenUE President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Voss. "This fun, exciting production brings those messages to one of the most powerful audiences around-our kids."

Two troupes of actors will travel across AmerenUE's Missouri service territory to bring "Boomerang Jack and the Unseen Green Machine" to as many Missouri communities as possible. AmerenUE will offer the program again next spring.

AmerenUE is a subsidiary of St. Louis-based Ameren Corporation. Ameren, through its subsidiaries, serves 2.4 million electric customers and nearly one million natural gas customers in a 64,000-square-mile area of Missouri and Illinois.
