DECATUR, Ill., PEORIA, Ill. and SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Scott Cisel, president and chief executive officer of the Ameren Illinois utilities, announced today the promotions of three new vice presidents of the Ameren Illinois utilities.

Ron Pate will become Vice President of Regional Operations. Stan Ogden has been named Vice President of Customer Service and Public Relations, and Craig Nelson has become Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Financial Services. All will report to Mr. Cisel and be part of the utilities' executive leadership team. Pate and Ogden will assume their positions Sept. 16. Nelson took over his post Aug. 16.

"Each of our three new vice presidents brings a unique level of experience and knowledge to our leadership team," Cisel said. "I'm certain their expertise and leadership will help the Ameren Illinois utilities better serve our customers."

In his new position, Pate will be responsible for electric operations in Divisions IV, V, VI and VII, the eastern and southern portions of Illinois, including Champaign-Urbana, Carbondale-Marion and the Metro East area. Pate, along with Bill Prebil, a current Vice President of Regional Operations, will manage natural gas operations throughout the Ameren Illinois utilities service territory.

Pate joined Illinois Power Company (IP), a successor to the Ameren Illinois utilities, in 1978 as a meter reader. He has held numerous positions since, most recently as the Director of Regional Operations for the southern divisions. A resident of Decatur, he serves on the board of directors for the Midwest Energy Association and the Illinois Energy Association.

Ogden will oversee customer service call centers, billing, credit, key accounts and internal and external communications for the Ameren Illinois utilities. Ogden joined Central Illinois Light Company (CILCO), another successor company, in 1982 in the Corporate Communications Department. The Morton resident has worked in sales, customer service and marketing positions, most recently as Director of Customer Service. He currently serves on the board of the Heart of Illinois United Way and Common Place in Peoria.

Nelson will direct power procurement, financial analysis and reporting, and regulatory affairs for Ameren Illinois utilities. He had been Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for Ameren Corp., and has experience in corporate planning, merger coordination, finance and accounting. A 28-year veteran of the company, Nelson is a member of the Illinois Energy Association Strategic Issues Group, and the Edison Electric Institute Strategic Planning Committee.

The Ameren Illinois utilities (AmerenCILCO, AmerenCIPS and AmerenIP) serve 1.2 million electric and more than 800,000 natural gas customers in Illinois.
