Stokes joined Anheuser-Busch in 1969 in its corporate planning department and became vice president of raw materials and transportation five years later. In 1990 he became president of Anheuser-Busch, Inc., the domestic brewing subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch Cos.
In 2000, Stokes was named a director of Anheuser-Busch Cos., Inc. He was senior executive vice president from July 2000 to June 2002 and has been president and chief executive officer of Anheuser-Busch Cos. since July 2002.
He serves on the board of Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Boys Hope/Girls Hope and is vice chairman of the Board of Trustees of Boston College. He is also a member of the board of U.S. Bancorp.
With assets of more than $18 billion, Ameren serves 2.2 million electric customers and 900,000 natural gas customers in a 64,000-square-mile area of Missouri and Illinois.
