ST. LOUIS, Dec. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The board of directors of Ameren Corporation (NYSE: AEE) announced today that Walter J. Galvin, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer of Emerson Electric Co., has been elected to the Ameren board.
A 34-year veteran of Emerson, Galvin has served as Emerson's CFO since 1993. He was named executive vice president in 2000 and senior executive vice president in 2004. He has served as a management member of Emerson's board of directors since 2000.

In addition, he offers a keen understanding of regional concerns and national economic development issues from his involvement with key local organizations and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce," said Ameren Corporation Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Gary L. Rainwater.
A resident of Ladue, MO, Galvin earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master's degree in business administration from Cornell University. He served four years in the United States Navy as a lieutenant, ending his military career as an operations officer. Galvin currently serves on the board of directors of F.M. Global Insurance Company and as an advisory director for the McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. In addition, he is a member of the board of directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC, Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis, the United Way of Greater St. Louis and the St. Louis Zoo.
With assets of more than $20 billion, Ameren serves 2.4 million electric customers and one million natural gas customers in a 64,000-square-mile area of Missouri and Illinois.
