ST. LOUIS, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Forty AmerenUE linemen headed to Kentucky yesterday to help Louisville Gas & Electric Company recover from the remnants of Hurricane Ike. Ike also struck Missouri, and some of the same linemen were among the hundreds who within 48 hours restored power to more than 100,000 Missourians earlier this week. AmerenUE also sent 10 supervisory and support staff employees to Kentucky.
Half of the linemen are from North-Central and Northwest Missouri, with the remainder from the Franklin and West St. Louis Counties.
A record 600,000 Kentuckians lost power due to the storms that swept several states at the beginning of the week.
AmerenUE, a subsidiary of St. Louis-based Ameren Corporation, serves 1.2 million electric customers and 127,000 natural gas customers in a 24,000-square-mile area of north, central and eastern Missouri.
