AmerenUE Residential Customers Get Personal Energy Report, Customized to their Electric Usage

This week, AmerenUE customers will start receiving something else in addition to their monthly electric bills—a Personal Energy Report, designed to help UE residential customers better understand and control their energy usage.

Customized for each household, the Personal Energy Report provides approximately two years of electric usage data in a chart that allows customers to quickly see their personal energy consumption and make better informed decisions about reducing usage and monthly bills.

The report includes average monthly temperatures for 2007, 2008 and 2009 to demonstrate the impact of summer heat and winter cold on energy usage. Another chart allows customers to compare electric energy charges, month by month, for the same period as their usage history. The Personal Energy Report includes energy savings tips and lists average annual savings for everything from motion detectors on outside lights to reducing daily shower time.

“This is something our customers have told us they wanted—a better understanding of how their energy dollars are being spent,” says Richard Mark, Ameren senior vice president, Missouri Energy Deliver. “We are responding to this need, in part, by delivering the Personal Energy Report.

“Our message is simple--you can take control of your energy usage,” adds Mark.

With residential electric retail rates that are almost 38 percent below the national average, UE provides electricity and natural gas to 1.2 million customers in Missouri. With $23 billion in assets, Ameren Corporation, through its affiliates, serves 2.4 million electric and nearly 1 million natural gas customers across 64,000 square miles of Illinois and Missouri.
