Doubletree St. Louis at Westport Joins AmerenUE’s Pure Power® Program
240,000 kilowatthour commitment Equals Removing 345 Tons of Carbon Dioxide Annually*

AmerenUE’s Pure Power announced today that The Doubletree Hotel at Westport has agreed to support the development of new renewable energy sources via the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) through the Pure Power program. The Doubletree at Westport is the first hotel in the AmerenUE territory to make such a commitment.

Doubletree’s commitment to this voluntary program will help prevent approximately 345 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), a leading greenhouse gas, from entering the atmosphere each year. This is equal to the CO2 reduction provided by taking 63 cars off the road for a year.

Pure Power is UE’s voluntary renewable energy program and the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2008 New Green Power Program of the Year Award Winner. It gives residential customers the option to add an extra 1.5 cents/kilowatt-hour to their monthly bills, offsetting 100 percent of their energy usage with clean, renewable energy. Commercial and industrial customers, like Doubletree, participate by buying “blocks” of Pure Power, paying an additional $15 a month for each 1,000 kilowatt hours used. This block option is also available to residential customers. Pure Power funds are used to purchase Renewable Energy Certificates from Green-e Energy-certified wind farms and other types of renewable energy projects.

Doubletree St. Louis at Westport’s purchase of 240 blocks of Pure Power annually makes it a UE Pure Power Leader--a designation reserved for companies, governments or other large users of electricity who agree offset at least 3 percent of their energy usage through Pure Power purchases.
Robert O’Loughlin, Chairman and CEO of Lodging Hospitality Management- owners and operators of the Doubletree St. Louis at Westport stated, “LHM is proud to share our commitment to the environment with all our conference attendees and host. We make this choice not only to reduce harmful air emissions that lead to global warming, but also to encourage further development of renewable resources.”
