AMERENUE WRAPPING UP STORM RESTORATION TODAY IN AREA NORTH OF KIRKSVILLE; EXPECTS ALL REMAINING CUSTOMERS AFFECTED BY THE STORMS OF MAY 13 TO BE RESTORED TODAY
UE NEEDS THOSE CUSTOMERS WHO ARE STILL OUT OF POWER TO CALL IN

St. Louis, MO (May 16, 2009) – AmerenUE reported today that the remaining three cities still affected by the tornados and severe storms that hit the Kirksville area on the evening of May 13—Novinger, Green City and Green Castle---should be restored today by early afternoon.

UE officials ask that any customers still out of power after power has been restored to the three remaining communities or who see a downed wire should call 1-800-552-7583.  As the storm wraps up, UE wants to make sure all customer outages are accounted for.    Crews will be available to do clean-up and handle any additional outages that may occur.

About 1,000 customers are still out of power from storms that knocked down 100 high-voltage poles and cut service to more than 3,000 customers in the Kirksville area, including the communities of Greentop, Green City, Downing, Novinger, Green Castle and Queen City.

More than 300 UE employees and contractors battled the elements to restore service--including yesterday’s lightning accompanied by heavy rain, which flooded areas and caused linemen to use boats to reach some areas.

UE expresses its thanks and deep appreciation to all customers for their patience and support during this very trying time.  Special thanks to the many people, area organizations and businesses throughout the affected communities – especially local law enforcement, Truman State University and The Crossing Church in Kirksville--for offering a range of services.

Additional storm safety information is available on the Storm Center on Ameren’s Web site – the first choice on the left navigation bar (www.ameren.com).
