Frost Joins AmerenUE’s Pure Power® Program

AmerenUE announced today that Frost has agreed to support the development of new renewable energy sources via the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) through UE’s Pure Power® program.

Frost’s commitment to this voluntary program will help prevent approximately 60 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), a leading greenhouse gas, from entering the atmosphere each year. This is equal to the CO2 reduction provided by taking 11 cars off the road for a year.*

Pure Power is UE’s voluntary renewable energy program and the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2008 New Green Power Program of the Year Award Winner. It gives residential customers the option to add an extra 1.5 cents/kilowatthour to their monthly bills, offsetting 100 percent of their energy usage with clean, renewable energy. Commercial and industrial customers, like Frost, participate by buying “blocks” of Pure Power, paying an additional $15 a month for each 1,000 kilowatthours used.

Residential customers may also participate by purchasing blocks of Pure Power. Pure Power funds are used to purchase Renewable Energy Certificates from Green-e® Energy-certified wind farms and other types of renewable energy projects.

Frost’s purchase of 84 blocks of Pure Power annually makes it a UE Pure Power Leader- Gold, a designation reserved for companies, governments or other large users of electricity who agree to offset at least 3 percent of their energy usage through Pure Power purchases.

“Frost is proud to demonstrate our commitment to clean, renewable energy with our employees, customers, vendors and the community at large,” said Jeff Frost, Executive Vice President. “Our Pure Power participation reflects our company’s emphasis on environmental consciousness as reflected in our own ‘Green Choice’ program, which provides the latest in energy-efficient products and services.”

Frost has been delivering a unique combination of products, service and expertise to the bi-state region for nearly a century. Three generations of the Frost family have guided the distribution company, focused on the electrical supply, industrial, automation, tools, safety and voice/data industries. Frost’s knowledgeable staff has decades of collective industry experience serving customers from its headquarters in Maryland Heights, MO and its five full-service branch locations in the city of St. Louis; O’Fallon and Columbia, MO; and in Collinsville and Lebanon, IL.
