Energy efficiency incentive payments to participating business customers throughout the AmerenUE service area have now reached the $1 million milestone since UE launched its Business Energy Efficiency Program in February, 2009.
The program makes $24 million in cash incentives available to Missouri UE non-residential customers to help cover the cost of purchasing and installing qualifying energy efficiency improvements. Incentive payments of up to $500,000 per customer per year are available for virtually any cost-effective energy efficiency retrofits or efficiency measures in new construction. However, to qualify for incentives, many projects require pre-approval by UE.
Altogether, 316 projects have been completed by business and institutional customers so far, reducing their total electricity use by about 20 million kilowatt hours (kWh) per year—saving an estimated $10 million in energy costs over the next decade.
“These customers recognize the importance of investing in energy efficiency improvements to achieve long-term savings,” says Richard Mark, UE Senior Vice president, Customer Operations. “We hope their example encourages other business and institutional customers to take advantage of UE’s incentives to help them upgrade the energy efficiency of their facilities.”
Incentive payment levels are subject to program guidelines. Customers can get current program information, including incentive forms, by visiting www.ameren.com/BIZefficiency, or by calling 1-866-941-7299.
AmerenUE, founded in 1902, provides electric and gas service to approximately 1.2 million customers across central and eastern Missouri, including the greater St. Louis area. UE serves 57 Missouri counties and 500 towns. The company's electric rates are among the lowest in the nation. For more information, visit www.ameren.com.
