ST. LOUIS, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The board of directors of Ameren Corporation (NYSE: AEE) announced today that Stephen R. Wilson, 61, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of CF Industries Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CF), has been elected to the Ameren board.
A 19-year veteran of CF Industries Holdings or its predecessor company, CF Industries, Inc., Wilson served as Chief Financial Officer from 1991 until 2003 when he was named President and CEO. He assumed his current position in 2005. CF Industries Holdings is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of nitrogen and phosphate fertilizer products in North America. Before joining CF Industries, Wilson served for 17 years in financial and planning roles at Inland Steel Industries, Inc.
"Steve Wilson brings a depth of experience both as a CEO and as a CFO of a large and complex company. In addition, he offers a keen understanding of financial and commodity risk issues from his long tenure with U.S. industrial firms," said Ameren President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas R. Voss.
A resident of Evanston, Ill, Wilson earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Northwestern University, where he also earned a master's degree in business administration.
Wilson currently serves on the board of directors of the Chicago Foundation for Education, the International Plant Nutrition Institute, The Fertilizer Institute and the Nutrients for Life Foundation. He is a member of the Illinois Business Roundtable and the Florida Council of 100--a non-profit business advisory group.
With assets of $24 billion, Ameren serves 2.4 million electric customers and nearly one million natural gas customers in a 64,000-square-mile area of Missouri and Illinois.
