Ameren Energy Marketing (AEM), the power marketer for Ameren Energy Resources, announced that it has signed a one-year, fixed price power supply contract with the Village of Shiloh, Ill. AEM is part of Ameren Corporation (NYSE: AEE), a Fortune 500 company headquartered in St. Louis, Mo.
The awarded contract represents approximately 740 megawatthours of electric generation supply, or more than 95 percent of the total needs of the city government’s operations. Projected annual savings for the city will be approximately $17,700.

Electric retail competition, approved through state laws, began more than 10 years ago. The law restructured the utility industry and opened up energy markets to competition.
