For a limited time, AmerenUE is offering its residential electric customers rebates for a portion of the cost of purchasing ENERGY STAR-qualified dehumidifiers, freezers and room air conditioners. Through a partnership with appliance manufacturers and participating retail stores throughout UE’s Missouri service area, the program provides mail-in rebates of $25 on the purchase of ENERGY STAR dehumidifiers and $50 rebates on ENERGY STAR qualified freezers and room air conditioners.
The rebates are available for units purchased between March 1 and Sept. 30, 2010. Up to three air conditioners, two dehumidifiers, and one freezer are eligible for a rebate for each UE residential electric customer account. Rebate forms and a list of participating retailers are available at UE’s one-stop energy efficiency Web site, www.UEfficiency.com. The forms are also available by calling toll-free 888-389-1446. Forms must be postmarked no later than Oct. 15, 2010.
“Customers consistently tell us they want to improve their energy efficiency, and this rebate program is intended to help make energy efficient appliances more affordable,” says Cara Dolly, managing supervisor for UE’s residential energy efficiency programs. “In addition to details about the rebate program, our UEfficiency.com Web site offers a wide range of information on how to better manage your energy use. It also offers the Energy Saving Toolkit, which provides a free energy use analysis and energy efficiency recommendations specifically tailored to your very own home.”
Besides the new appliance rebates, UE is currently partnering with more than 250 retail stores to offer ENERGY STAR compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs at discounted prices. In addition, more than 14 varieties of CFLs are offered at discounts of up to 66 percent through UE’s online store on the www.UEfficiency.com Web site. Customers can also order by phone at 800-379-4121. To ensure that only eligible UE customers received discounted products from the online store, customers need to have their 10-digit UE account number when placing an order.
