Starting April 19, AmerenUE’s 127,000 natural gas customers in Missouri will have a unique opportunity to benefit from a combination of UE and state-offered programs. With these programs combined, customers can receive big savings when shopping for new natural gas furnaces or water heaters.
Here’s how. April 19 is the first day of the Show-Me Green Sales Tax Holiday—a week when ENERGY STAR®-certified new appliances purchased in Missouri will be exempt from state sales tax. The tax holiday coincides with UE’s Energy Efficient Natural Gas Equipment Rebate Program and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) Energize Missouri Appliance Rebate Program.
UE offers rebates toward a portion of the cost of purchasing and installing ENERGY STAR-qualified programmable thermostats, gas furnaces, gas boilers and water heaters (including tankless water heaters). Rebates are also available on other energy efficiency measures--like caulking, weather stripping, ceiling and wall insulation—that result from a customer-paid energy audit by a qualified energy auditor. All qualifying equipment must be purchased by Dec. 31, 2010, and installed by Jan. 31, 2011. Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 28, 2011, to qualify for rebates.
The DNR’s Energy Missouri Appliance Rebate program provides rebates on ENERGY STAR-qualified gas furnaces and water heaters, both of which are also eligible for UE’s rebate program.
