In recognition of Energy Awareness Month, Ameren Missouri urges its 1.2 million electric customers to log in to the company’s Energy Savings Toolkit to become better educated energy consumers.
Since 2004, the Energy Savings Toolkit has allowed thousands of Ameren Missouri customers to analyze their bills, determine the factors behind variations in bills and even see on what days of the week they use the most energy.
Customers can access the toolkit by going to Ameren Missouri’s energy efficiency website, Uefficiency.com. Those who are already Ameren Missouri “eCustomers” can access the Energy Savings Toolkit by entering their UserID and Password. Others will need to become an eCustomer to gain access to the Toolkit.
Unlike sites that require customers to answer a long questionnaire, Ameren Missouri’s Toolkit asks a few questions and offers immediate suggestions, prompting the customer to dig deeper. The Toolkit even includes an extensive library where customers can learn about virtually any energy-related topic.
Once the necessary information has been provided, customers will see a pie chart showing the major factors contributing to their bill, a graphic that indicates how their energy usage and bill compare to those of similar homes in the neighborhood and “When does my home use energy?”—a chart that shows on which days of the preceding week the most (or least) energy has been used.
“Being able to get near-real-time information about energy usage is the first step in understanding how changing your behavior can affect your utility bill,” says Greg Lovett, Ameren Missouri managing supervisor of Products and Services. “For example, most customers will see a spike over the weekend when everyone is at home and using more appliances. Temperature, the time of day you use appliances, and even having house guests can affect usage.”
