Ameren Missouri President and CEO Warner Baxter Named to Ritenour School District ‘Hall of Fame’


Ameren Missouri President and CEO Warner Baxter will be named to the Ritenour School District’s “Hall of Fame” during an induction ceremony Friday, Oct. 8, at the Graphic Arts Banquet and Conference Center in Maryland Heights, Mo. The Ritenour community, friends and alumni are invited.

Baxter, of Eureka, Mo., is a 1979 graduate of Ritenour High School. After attending Ritenour, Baxter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and later became a Certified Public Accountant in Missouri. He became president and CEO of AmerenUE (now Ameren Missouri) on May 1, 2009, after serving as executive vice president and chief financial officer and as president and CEO of Ameren Services—positions he had held since 2003 and 2006 respectively. In 2001, Mr. Baxter was named senior vice president, Finance.

Baxter joined Union Electric in August 1995 as assistant controller. He was named controller of Union Electric Company in 1996. Following the 1997 merger of Union Electric and CIPSCO Incorporated, he served as vice president and controller of Ameren Corporation and Ameren Services.

Before joining Ameren, Baxter served as senior manager in PriceWaterhouseCooper’s, LLP National Office in New York City. He worked in the Accounting and SEC Services Department. From 1983 to 1993, Mr. Baxter worked in the Accounting and Auditing Services Department of the firm’s St. Louis office, where he provided auditing and consulting services to clients in a variety of industries.

Baxter is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, he has made meaningful and long-lasting contributions to higher education through his involvement at the University of Missouri and the University of Missouri – St. Louis. He is a member (and past president) of the University of Missouri – St. Louis Chancellors Council, and he serves on the University of Missouri 100 Board.

Today, Baxter serves on the boards of the Nuclear Energy Institute, Missouri Energy Development Association (MEDA), Gateway Leadership Foundation, UMB Bank Community Board, and Jazz St. Louis. He is also a member of the St. Louis Sports Commission and serves on the Wyman Board of Trustees, with a passion for helping area youth develop self-confidence and preparing them for successful, fulfilling futures. He is also actively involved with several charitable organizations, including The Wellness Community of St. Louis, the American Cancer Society and Food Outreach.
