Ameren Missouri has extended its program that offers residential customers rebates for a portion of the cost of purchasing certain ENERGY STAR®-qualified electric appliances and added two more items to the list of appliances that are eligible for rebates. The program began in March 2010, and was originally scheduled to end Sept. 30, but it has now been extended to Sept. 30, 2011.
The program has also been expanded to include mail-in rebates of $50 on the purchase of ENERGY STAR-qualified water coolers and room air cleaner/purifiers. Rebates of $25 remain available on the purchase of ENERGY STAR dehumidifiers and $50 on ENERGY STAR freezers and room air conditioners.
Up to three air cleaners, three air conditioners, two dehumidifiers, one freezer, and one water cooler are eligible for a rebate for each Ameren Missouri residential electric customer. Rebate forms and a list of retailers offering ENERGY STAR products are available at Ameren Missouri’s energy efficiency website, Uefficiency.com. Forms are also available at retail locations listed on the website.
Besides offering the appliance rebates, Ameren Missouri is continuing to offer ENERGY STAR compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs at discounted prices through a partnership with more than 250 retail stores.
“By purchasing ENERGY STAR qualified products, you can save energy, save money, and help protect the environment for future generations,” says Cara Dolly, managing supervisor for Ameren Missouri’s residential energy efficiency programs.
Dolly says there are two price tags for every electric appliance you buy—the price you pay at the time of purchase and the price you pay on energy bills to operate that product over time. An ENERGY STAR qualified product may cost more initially, but it will pay for itself in energy savings in the long run.
“Ameren Missouri’s rebates help make the purchase price equal, or often lower, than non-ENERGY STAR models, making it easier for customers to choose high-efficiency products,” Dolly adds.
