Ameren Missouri announced today that it will award $300 bill credits to 100 families in the “Neediest Cases" program. The $30,000 total contribution will be funded by company profits, not customer electric or natural gas rates.
“Each year, our hearts go out to the families identified by social service agencies as the '100 Neediest Cases,'" says Warner Baxter, Ameren Missouri president and CEO. "Ameren Missouri is pleased to be able to help out this year by dramatically decreasing or even removing one concern for these customers—their electric utility bill."
“Throughout the year, Ameren Missouri gives back to the community through a variety of programs. This is just one way we can help improve the quality of life for some of our most needy customers,” says Richard Mark, Ameren Missouri senior vice president, Customer Operations.
In August, Ameren Missouri announced a $5 million commitment of company profits to meet the energy needs of customers by offering financial assistance to non-profit agencies, military families and Dollar More. Dollar More is one of the largest privately funded energy assistance programs in the state. Since it was established in 1982, Dollar More Program has raised about $31 million through voluntary customer and employee contributions, and donations from Ameren Corporation. Customers having trouble paying their bills are encouraged to call 1.800.552.7583.
