Ameren Missouri Makes Significant Progress in Restoring Power to Areas Hit by Severe Storms
Crews Restore Power to 60,000 Customers in Less Than 24 Hours

Ameren Missouri is responding aggressively to restore power to those communities impacted by severe storms that blew through Monday afternoon bringing down power lines and snapping approximately 50 utility poles. As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, crews had restored power to approximately 60,000 customers. At the height of the storm outages, 72,000 customers were without power. Fewer than 12,500 remain without service Tuesday morning; a majority of those customers live in St. Louis County, St. Louis City and Franklin County. Ameren Missouri estimates most of the storm-related outages will be repaired by late Tuesday night.

1,300 Ameren Missouri and contract personnel are in the field working to restore power. Ameren Missouri has mobilized 735 linemen, which includes 500 Ameren Missouri employees and 235 contractors. 410 tree trimmers are working ahead of these crews, clearing the many trees and tree limbs that pulled down Ameren Missouri lines and damaged equipment.

Ameren Missouri reminds customers that safety is the first and foremost concern. The most important safety rule is to stay clear of downed power lines and always call Ameren Missouri at 1.800.552.7583 or 911 if you see downed lines. Assume all downed power lines are energized. Stay inside, especially at night because you may walk into an energized power line. Stay clear of brush, shrubs and downed trees that may hide downed lines.

While every effort is being made to restore power as quickly as possible, customers with special needs—including those with medical conditions, seniors, handicapped and others who are dependent on electric service—may wish to consider making alternative arrangements if outages in their areas persist.

We also urge our customers to look in on neighbors, especially seniors and those with medical conditions. Checking on these people during outages will help keep them safe and comfortable.

Additional storm safety information is available at the Outage Center on Ameren Missouri’s website, AmerenMissouri.com.
