Within 12 hours, more than 40,000 Ameren Missouri customers who lost their power because of overnight storms have their power back, thanks to prompt response by field crews. As of 4 p.m. today, approximately 12,000 customers are without power, down from almost 54,000 outages reported during the peak of the storm. Almost half of those outages are centered on the Kirksville area of Missouri. In the St. Louis metro area, more than 2,000 customers in the Berkeley area remain without power. Nearly all the Ameren Missouri customers without power due to the overnight storm will have power restored by tonight, except those in the Kirksville region. Those customers should have their power restored by tomorrow night.
Information regarding these outages can be found at AmerenMissouri.com/Outage.
“While our crews are busy restoring power to our customers affected by the outages, we urge everyone to be acutely aware of the dangers that downed power lines can pose,” explains Richard Mark, Ameren Missouri senior vice president of Customer Operations.
Ameren Missouri reminds the public to steer clear of broken poles and tree limbs and assume all downed power lines are energized. Outages, downed lines and other power-related issues should be reported to 1.800.552.7583.
While every effort is being made to restore power as quickly as possible, customers with special needs—including those with medical conditions, seniors, handicapped and others dependent on electric service—may wish to consider making other arrangements if outages in their areas persist.
Additional storm information is available on the Outage Center pages at AmerenMissouri.com.
