Walk for Life was established in 2005 because of the overwhelming number of African American families who are struggling with critical health issues. The walk will include families of diverse economic means, while focusing on information regarding a number of diseases that have direct correlation with each other, including diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, corroded arteries and others. CWAH expects more than 600 participants from corporations, church congregations, Greek organizations, community-based organizations and professional affiliated groups.
Founded in 1988, CWAH is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to providing programs and services to improve the quality of life for women and children struggling with poverty issues. Since 1988, CWAH has provided services to more than 5,000 women and children. A not-for-profit organization, CWAH is located at 3963 West Belle Place; St. Louis, MO 63108. Gloria Taylor is the CEO/Founder of CWAH.
AmerenUE contributed $5,000 in 2005 to CWAH as a sponsor of the first "Walk for Life" walk-a-thon that was held in May 2005.
AmerenUE is a subsidiary of St. Louis-based Ameren Corporation. Ameren companies serve 2.4 million electric customers and nearly 1 million natural gas customers in a 64,000-square-mile area of Missouri and Illinois.
