Ameren Missouri is responding to its customers in need by providing $1.4 million in energy assistance to Dollar More ahead of its scheduled release date. This energy assistance is the final installment of a $5 million commitment of shareholder funds Ameren Missouri made in 2010. Dollar More provides energy assistance to 39 agencies, including the United Way. Temperatures remained in the 90s for several weeks and the United Way reports two-thirds of its emergency calls are for energy assistance.
"For their safety we have encouraged our customers to use their air conditioners during the extensive heat wave. We know utility bills are going to be high. So we're making available energy assistance funds to help our customers pay their bills and stay safe," says Richard Mark, senior vice president of Ameren Missouri Customer Operations.
Customers needing energy assistance can use the online Agency Assistance Finder at AmerenMissouri.com to find a list of energy assistance agencies in their zip code. They may also call 1.800.552.7583 or the United Way at 2.1.1. or 1.800.427.4626.
