COLLINSVILLE, Ill., Jan. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Ameren Illinois announced today that it has contributed $80,000 to help local food pantries feed those in need throughout central and southern Illinois. Grants of $10,000 were provided to eight local organizations to help replenish food supplies.
"We know this time of year can be difficult for local food pantries to fully meet the needs of the citizens in our communities," said Richard J. Mark, President of Ameren Illinois. "We hope this contribution will help as many families as possible to make sure no one who needs a meal is turned away."
The donations will be made to the following organizations across the Ameren Illinois service territory.
Ameren Illinois is making the donations through its Ameren Cares program, an initiative that connects Ameren Illinois with the communities it serves through charitable giving and volunteering. In 2015, the company donated nearly $1.5 million to non-profit organizations.
